In a recent Information Week article HP India was shown working on printers that don’t require a computer. You can print things encoded in a TV broadcast.
Aren’t we supposed to be moving away from printing everything? That’s what displays are for, after all.
I’m assuming this addresses the situation where India doesn’t feel the population is creating enough waste product. They envision every home wantonly printing loads of “stuff” from the airwaves. This would create even more of a drain on natural resources like paper… which I’m sure India doesn’t have enough of.
It’s good to know that even in countries where so many people are below the poverty line, HP is figuring out ways to create even greater waste. And then push it on the people through government subsidy.
