Bush’s glib statements don’t appear to be winning him wars or any support, as the bottom link to a Wired artcle on the latest polls shows.

As far as I see it, one of the problems with the “war” in Iraq is that there isn’t actually a war going on.  We’ve got lots of troops over there, acting as police, and there’s nothing solid for them to “fight”.

The country was conquered and unfortunately all of it’s civil services disbanded.  Now there aren’t enough locals providing the necessary services such as policing, water, electric, sewage and what have you.  And all the money in the world isn’t going to be enough to bring these necessities to a militant populace.

So now the US military is bogged down in a quagmire of policing action and the president is finally getting his comeupance  for rashly invading another country without any thought as to what to do once the current rulership was deposed.

I’m not sure weather cleaning out the rulers was a bad idea.  What I am sure of is that not having a plan on what to do 5 minutes later was an absolutely horrible idea.  Now the US is caught up policing a hostile foreign country with no end in site.

It’s about time the US public got irritated at spending billions in the triple digits over it.
