What to do with that 100,000$ (USD) in grant money you’ve got kicking around? String together 50 touch panels, of course!
Academia doesn’t have any real challenges to conquer, so they’ve gone for simply putting lots of expensive crap together. At least this particular hall of academia.
Hey, I’ve got an idea. Why don’t you send me over a 100k and I’ll put together a bunch of computers. We’ll call it (wait for it…) a cluster! It won’t be new, or exciting, but it’ll suck up money and look cool.
Since they do have one unique (I guess?) angle with gunning for a higher pixel count than any other large display (except the wall of monitors down at the Disney Store), we’ll build the cluster out of treated cardboard. Just to make things even.
