Just finished reading someone whining on digg about this one. Apparently people are a little confused about what carrier neutrality means.
To set the story straight, we’re talking about providers giving equal priority to packets routed over there network and not biasing based on some “extra hidden fee” charged to the sender of said packets outside of their normal usage fees. That would be a surcharge above and beyond what the sending and receiving parties already pay for their network connections and bandwith.
Now, that’s essentially an extortion fee to get more out of you for something you (and the other party) are already paying for.
Providers always offer up perks and “exclusive content” to get people to (wait for it…) subscribe to their services. It’s point of fact what they’re selling.
And that’s about it.
