Looks like it’s an MS news day.
Along with the news that Vista is being delayed (which you’ve probably heard by now) Smarthouse has word that MS is planning a total rewrite.
What scares me here is the thought process on the restructuring. Down toward the bottom there’s a quote from one of the Microsoft head drones stating:
“… extend the value of our offerings by providing a more seamless connection between our desktop products and the Web.”
You’d think they might’ve learned by now that the core of their problems with security is the integration of dissimilar applications directly into the core OS. But no, apparently the answer is to tie in IE to the kernel ever more tightly.
And they’re pulling folks from the XBox team for the re-program. Expect your next WinPC to be a glorified footstool, and about as configurable.
