Lest you be under the impression that I’m commending it on sucking the crap out of the drainage system.
After trying a few different types of drain cleaning product such as Drain-O and Liquid Plumber I went the old fashioned route and got a pipe snake. What that is is an auger on the end of a flexible metal coil, simple yet effective. Think small drill on a 25 foot flexible run of coil.
Simply wind and spin through any clogged areas of the pipe. Works marvelously.
On a side note, don’t wash string down your sink. It may sound like a fun idea at the time, but will only end in pain. I’m assuming that some former resident of my current abode was a little slow on the “what we put down the drain” uptake.
