Following up a story about an undocumented flaw in Word, to which my reaction was “people still use that?
” Andy Updegrove has written an article about press stories and how they spread.
Really, you can put “stories” in the bunny ears of death there, because it’s more about the lack thereof than any ability to string some rational and researched words together in story form.
So what’s that amazing array of verbage mean? Some people were making it up, mostly. Sure, there’s some real worm type code out there for Word. But the articles were mostly just conjecture.
Except for my quick blurb/link. You really shouldn’t use Word. Bad for the health. Now go get a copy of Abiword before that little paperclip decides your document’s not up to snuff (or maybe that’s the other paperclip..).
