Once upon a time words like “noob” could be counted on to be the domain of script kiddies or slung about on IRC goofing on the same.

No longer.  I was actually a bit surprised to hear random people bandying the term around as some kind of generic insult on anyone they wanted to try and offend.  Fairly disturbing, as it was traditionally said by the person whom was looked down on.  The type of hacker you’d roll your eyes about then continue on with the “adults table” conversation.

Next thing you know they’ll be re-purposing “nerd” as something trendy instead of that guy with the Bernie Weinstein glasses from your 6th grade math class who always had the answers…
