Alright. Maybe I’m just a little too nitpicky. To be fair, I don’t actually use Windows and haven’t for almost as long as it’s been available (long story.. used to use AmigaOS, briefly used Windows 95/98, then switched off to Unix/Linux/BSD). Although I can support it, as it runs on PCs and PCs are what I do.

Anyway. Back to the matter at hand. In a Tech Corner article a programmer and VP of a web firm states

blah blah.. firefox.. blah Microsoft users should be aware that IE is still needed to download the latest patches from the Windows Update Service. So if you decide to change browsers, don’t delete IE. Just set the new browser to be your default and use IE when it’s needed.” blah

Now.. is it just me or should the tech VP and programmer at a company realize that you can’t remove IE. It’s so integrated into the Windows core code a crowbar and a priest performing an exorcism couldn’t drive it out.  This kind of coding shenanigans is far beyond the average bear.
