It seems that technology firms are wiseing up to criminals using the new technology of… telephones. The rest of us have heard of these “phones” before, as they’re commonly called, but apparently these are new-tech to firms like Anti-virus firm Sophos.
Although the article plays up that these are “new” “mad sploits” (okay, that last one’s mine) they seem like the same phone scams that have been run since the telephone system was first automated. Aparently this is somehow new when some of those calls travel over IP packets.
So yes. Run, yell, freak out. Everything you know is a lie. Criminals are loose in the (now VoIP) phone system!
