Seems that Ford is posting quite a hefty loss for the quarter. With the rise of gas prices people are suddenly thinking twice about that 17mpg SUV.
With their most efficient regular model car coming in around 30mpg (awful compared to Toyota’s standard car top-end of 40mpg) they’re fairly well stuck.
Looks like under-diversifying comes back to bite you no matter what business you’re in.
For lowering polution maybe higher oil prices will do what years of drumming low-polution meme’s into American’s heads couldn’t. Reduce our dependence on expendable, burnable fuel sources.
