Just picked up on this repost over at OSDir.
Check out the wording on that one, then read the title: “United States Cedes Control of the Internet”.
So, they’re reaching for a title with some “shlocking awe” qualities from an article that doesn’t say what the title implies.
The actual body of those statements are so vague and non-commital that they’re not even obligated to do anything, nevermind commited to change. Could someone please put a little thought into the topic, read the original piece, etc. etc. before posting?
And now that I’ve read the US .gov might cede power to ICANN at some unspecified future time I feel all warm and fuzzy. Really.

In a meeting that will go down in internet history, the United States government last night conceded that it can no longer expect to maintain its position as the ultimate authority over the internet.
