Dan Zarella’s got an interesting set of graphs up. They represent how often “you” (quite literally) search for the same things around a given keyword.
One thing that I’d derive from his results is that the more generic the term, the less likely people are to have the same search.
In example:
The term “lyrics” which is likely proceeded or followed by specific examples is a relative sure shot. Only about 25% searched for the same terms surrounding it.
However, terms like “buy”, which will undoubtedly be surrounded by more vague words (such as “Air Conditioner”) rather than specifics (as with lyrics), seem to often be searched for with the same words. Or people are more often accurate with their query.
People seem to be more inclined to specifics with a more general search.
In any case, it makes a good read for anyone interested in search, check it out.
