While I’ll wholeheartedly agree that there are some games which are far to violent for my viewing pleasure I won’t go so refer to them as “speech”.
They’re not.
Nor will I gladly watch Congress critters dictate morals.  I’m perfectly capable of not buying a game on my own, without any regulation, thank  you very much.
But apparently […]

Even though free software (in the freedom-to-modify-and-distribute sense) comes along with all the tools and utliities anyone would need to modify or distribute their own version of it, it’s apparently not “African” enough for this company.
I think the author misses the valuable point that free software doesn’t have boundries (as hackneyed as that is to […]

Although the author of the below misses the fact that P in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PERL) doesn’t stand for PHP (or didn’t.. the P is now interchangable PERL/PHP/Python) we’ll skip that for the moment.
Instead, we’ll focus on his vague allegations that Apache is only so-so, but the best of the bunch (which I’ll heartily […]

Out of Boston comes some news on a sage decision from Google.
Instead of foolishly creating its own browser, Google has decided to rely on the browsers of others.  Maybe Microsoft could take a page from that book and focus on core competencies instead of constantly chasing the Next Big Thing ™.

If you were looking for a format to store your document in, what would you look at?  Robust support for whatever it is you’re doing and maybe cross compatibility, right?
Not Microsoft.  They’re so divorced from reality over in Redmond that their number one priority is on a format’s performance.  Over here in CT, we’re not […]

It’s been a while, but I’ve finally dusted off my writing keyboard and cracked out the first in a weekly series of Linux gaming articles.  First up, I’ve got Triplex Invaders, Maniadrive, and Lost Labyrinth.
If you’re interested in Linux games, PCBurn will be running a couple of game reviews on commercial releases in the near […]

Microsofts Word is now experiencing viral outbreaks on undocumented bugs.  All of you office worker types take note.
Chaulk one up for the crowd that thinks being locked down to a single proprietary format just might not be in the publics best interest.  Especially with text document formatting.  C’mon folks.  Does which set of instructions provides […]
